What is it?
Sleep apena- A sleep disorder in which breathing repeated stops and stops.
Obstructive sleep apena- Apena occurs when your throat muscles relax and block your airway during sleep. A very noticeable sign is snoring.
Central sleep apena - Occurs when your brain doesn't send proper signals to the muscles that control breathing.
What causes it?
Obstructive sleep apena- The most common cause is excess weight, and obesity ,which is associated with soft tissue of the mouth and throat.During sleep, when the throat and tongue muscles are more relaxed, this soft tissue can cause the airway to become blocked.
Central sleep apena- Problems that affect the brain stem, including brain infection, stroke, or conditions of the cervical spine(neck) ,severe obesity.
Tips to prevent it?
1. Maintain a healthy weight- . In combination with the effects on blood pressure and sugar, sleep loss and excess body weight add a significant risk to sleep apena.
2. Yoga- Regular exercise can increase your energy level,strengthen your heart, and improve sleep apena.
3.Sleep position- Sleep on your side. Avoid sleeping on your back which makes it more likely for your tongue and soft tissues to obstruct your airway.
4. Use a humidifier- A humidifier can enhance airflow quality better than your body can humidify on its own.
5. Avoid alcohol and smoking- alcohol and smoking contributes to inflammation and fluid forming around or in the lungs.
